When all you have is needle and thread…
I live in one of the more rural parts of the Washington countryside, on the east side close to the Canadian border where it is 60 miles and a mountain pass to anywhere with a stoplight. If you want something, you have to either make it yourself, plan on spending at least 4 hours in the car, or order off Amazon which might still take a week to arrive. (I have seen those poor UPS and FedEx drivers zoom past my driveway so many times….)
I have three goals when it comes to starting this website:
- Teach people the basic clothing repairs that used to be taught to you by your mother or grandmother if you were lucky or your Home Ec. teacher if you weren’t.
- Give you alternatives to throwing your clothes away or sending them to a thrift store. (Where they’re still likely to be thrown away.)
- Share with you the joy of making something both beautiful and useful with your own hands.
- And as a bonus, I’d love to inspire you to try mending the things you have, making your own clothes or even a quilt!
